Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance, organization, and digitization of patient medical records, both electronic and physical.
  • Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations, patient privacy laws, and organizational data security policies.
  • Review and audit patient charts for accuracy, completeness, and proper coding to facilitate efficient billing and clinical operations.
  • Process requests for patient information from internal staff, external providers, and patients in accordance with legal guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the billing department and clinical teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure data interoperability.
  • Train and support staff on best practices for EHR (Electronic Health Record) usage and documentation standards.
  • Assist in the implementation of new health information management systems and software upgrades.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Health Information Technology or related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Medical Records Administrator is a plus.
  • Proven experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Allscripts.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare coding principles (ICD-10, CPT).
