Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end research initiatives focused on advanced composite materials and nanomaterials.
- Translate complex technical requirements into actionable experimental frameworks.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate R&D outputs into production-scale prototypes.
- Mentor junior scientists and foster a culture of rigorous peer review and technical excellence.
- Author white papers, patents, and technical documentation to capture and protect intellectual property.
- Manage laboratory safety protocols and ensure compliance with federal research standards.
- Analyze multi-dimensional data sets to identify breakthroughs and optimize material properties.
Qualifications
- PhD in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of post-doctoral experience in a high-tech R&D environment.
- Proven track record of commercializing research or securing major patent portfolios.
- Expertise in analytical techniques such as SEM, TEM, and spectroscopy.
- Proficiency in computational modeling software (e.g., COMSOL, MATLAB, or Python-based modeling).
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects with budgets exceeding $500k.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex science to non-technical stakeholders.
