Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality echocardiographic examinations, including 2D, M-mode, and Doppler, in accordance with ASE standards.
- Lead and mentor junior sonographers, providing guidance on complex scanning protocols and image optimization.
- Ensure seamless communication with cardiologists to discuss findings and provide preliminary diagnostic summaries.
- Maintain and troubleshoot sophisticated diagnostic equipment to ensure peak operational performance.
- Oversee departmental quality control initiatives to ensure compliance with IAC accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support structural heart interventions and surgical planning.
- Document patient findings meticulously within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a related health science field.
- Current RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) certification via ARDMS or CCI required.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a high-acuity cardiac environment.
- Proven leadership experience or a demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff.
- Proficiency in advanced imaging techniques, including 3D imaging and transesophageal echocardiography (TEE).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for patient-centered interactions.
- Current BLS/ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
