Responsibilities
- Manage Medical Records: Organize, maintain, and update patient health records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with 100% accuracy.
- Medical Coding: Assign appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes to diagnoses and procedures for billing and reporting purposes.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and internal data governance policies to protect patient privacy.
- Record Auditing: Conduct regular audits of medical records to identify discrepancies, errors, or missing information.
- Staff Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and nurses to clarify clinical documentation and resolve coding queries.
- Data Analysis: Generate reports on coding patterns and health data trends to support organizational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in Health Information Technology, Health Information Management, or a related field (RHIT or RHIA certification is highly preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding, health information management, or medical records administration.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of EHR software (e.g., Epic, Cerner, AthenaHealth) and ICD-10/CPT coding guidelines.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to spot errors and ensure data integrity in high-volume environments.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clinical staff.
