Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate patient health records in both electronic and paper formats, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Ensure strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and organizational privacy policies at all times.
- Code diagnoses and procedures accurately using ICD-10 and CPT classification systems for billing and reporting purposes.
- Perform regular audits of medical records to identify discrepancies and ensure regulatory adherence.
- Facilitate the timely and secure release of patient information in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with the billing department and clinical staff to resolve documentation issues.
- Assist in the implementation and training of new EHR software updates.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Health Information Technology, Health Information Management, or related field required; RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
- Proficient experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Allscripts.
- Strong working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and high-level organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.
