Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze network traffic for security anomalies and potential threats
- Implement and maintain security controls including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption systems
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on federal systems
- Develop incident response plans and lead cybersecurity breach mitigation efforts
- Collaborate with federal agencies to share threat intelligence and best practices
- Prepare comprehensive security reports for senior leadership and congressional oversight
- Stay current on emerging cyber threats and mitigation strategies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity with government sector background
- CISSP, CEH, or GIAC certification required
- Expertise in NIST frameworks and federal compliance standards (FISMA, FedRAMP)
- Proficiency in SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar) and network security protocols
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex technical data
- Active Secret security clearance (Top Secret eligibility required)
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure) and zero-trust architectures
