Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee a portfolio of complex tax engagements for corporate, partnership, and individual clients.
- Conduct thorough research on intricate tax issues and provide strategic advice and recommendations.
- Review federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current tax laws.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
- Serve as a primary client contact, building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships.
- Identify and implement tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and maximize financial opportunities.
- Represent clients before tax authorities during audits and inquiries.
- Stay abreast of new tax legislation, regulations, and pronouncements, and assess their impact on clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's in Taxation or MBA preferred.
- Active CPA license required.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in public accounting with a focus on tax.
- Proven expertise in federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations for various entity types.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of mentoring junior staff.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax CS, GoSystem Tax RS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
