Responsibilities
- Evaluate and underwrite complex commercial and personal insurance applications to determine risk exposure and appropriate premium pricing.
- Analyze loss data, market trends, and policyholder claims history to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and agents to secure new business and retain existing clients.
- Adhere strictly to company underwriting guidelines and regulatory compliance standards.
- Conduct regular reviews of policy renewals and recommend pricing adjustments based on performance.
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to the development of departmental underwriting manuals.
- Collaborate with the claims and actuarial teams to improve loss ratios and product offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Advanced degree a plus).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in Property & Casualty underwriting.
- Strong knowledge of commercial lines, specifically General Liability, Commercial Auto, or Property.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AIWC are highly preferred.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and financial reports.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client and broker presentations.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
