Responsibilities
- Analyze Risk: Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal insurance applications using established guidelines and actuarial data.
- Policy Issuance: Make final decisions on coverage terms, premiums, and exclusions to maximize profitability while meeting client needs.
- Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of assigned accounts, identifying trends and mitigating adverse loss ratios.
- Collaboration: Work closely with sales agents and brokers to clarify policy details and provide expert advice.
- Guideline Development: Contribute to the continuous improvement of underwriting manuals and internal processes.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of proven experience in commercial underwriting or risk assessment.
- Certification: Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in underwriting systems (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong ability to interpret data, assess risk factors, and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to negotiate terms with stakeholders.
