Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement effective tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients.
- Manage and respond to federal and state tax notices and audits.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary financial information and provide expert tax advice.
- Mentor and review the work of junior tax staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and communicate their potential impact to clients and internal teams.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and other accounting-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master's degree in Taxation or CPA certification highly preferred.
- 4-6 years of progressive experience in tax preparation and planning, preferably within a public accounting firm.
- Proven expertise in preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for various entity types (1040, 1120, 1065).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and current federal and state tax regulations.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., UltraTax CS, ProSystem fx Tax, CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
