Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive merchandise plans, forecasts, and strategies across multiple categories to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turn targets.
- Analyze historical sales data, market trends, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and risks, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Manage inventory levels, purchase orders, and allocations to ensure optimal stock efficiency and minimize overstock or out-of-stock situations.
- Collaborate closely with buying, marketing, and operations teams to align merchandise plans with overall business objectives and promotional calendars.
- Lead demand planning processes, utilizing advanced analytical tools and methodologies to refine forecasts and improve accuracy.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), presenting findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Participate in assortment planning, product lifecycle management, and promotional strategy development.
- Mentor and guide junior planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Merchandising, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in merchandise planning, inventory management, or demand forecasting within a retail environment.
- Proven expertise with advanced planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDA/Blue Yonder, Anaplan) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of retail financial metrics, open-to-buy processes, and supply chain dynamics.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience in a multi-category or omni-channel retail setting is a significant advantage.
