Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes to inpatient and outpatient medical records.
- Perform comprehensive medical record reviews to identify missing documentation and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure all coding practices adhere to CMS, AHA, and ICD-10 coding guidelines.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to optimize coding productivity.
- Conduct regular audits and provide feedback to clinical staff to improve documentation quality.
- Collaborate with the revenue cycle team to resolve payer denials and maximize reimbursement.
Qualifications
- Certification: RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC, or CCS credential required.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in professional medical coding.
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Deep understanding of HIPAA compliance and privacy regulations.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
