Responsibilities

- Develop and cultivate a network of high-level sources across government, corporate, and civil sectors.
- Analyze complex datasets, public records, and financial disclosures to uncover hidden stories.
- Collaborate with multimedia producers and data scientists to create immersive visual storytelling.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and legal compliance.
- Mentor junior reporters and assist in the editorial development of newsroom talent.
- Represent the publication at industry events and public forums as a subject matter expert.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in investigative reporting with a verifiable portfolio of long-form work.
- Proven ability to navigate Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and data-scraping techniques.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to translate technical findings into compelling prose.
- Strong grasp of media law, libel risks, and ethical reporting standards.
- Advanced proficiency in research tools like LexisNexis, PACER, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau).
- A resilient mindset and the capacity to manage sensitive deadlines under pressure.
