Responsibilities
- Lead and execute long-term investigative projects from initial pitch to final publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of high-level sources and whistleblowers.
- Analyze complex public records, financial disclosures, and raw data sets to uncover hidden truths.
- Collaborate with multimedia teams to produce interactive storytelling elements for web and social platforms.
- Ensure all reporting meets the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and legal rigor.
- Represent the publication in public forums and high-profile media engagements.
- Mentor junior reporters on investigative techniques and source protection strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a fast-paced newsroom, with a focus on investigative reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to break major stories that influence public policy or corporate accountability.
- Advanced proficiency in data journalism tools (Excel, SQL, Python) and FOIA request procedures.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with a portfolio of published long-form journalism.
- Deep understanding of media law, libel risks, and ethical reporting standards.
- Proven ability to work independently while meeting rigorous editorial deadlines.
