Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception to publication across digital, print, and broadcast platforms
- Develop and cultivate deep source networks in government, finance, and advocacy sectors
- Produce data-driven stories using advanced research techniques and public records analysis
- Collaborate with multimedia teams to create compelling visual narratives (video, infographics, interactive features)
- Maintain rigorous ethical standards while navigating sensitive legal and ethical boundaries
- Mentor junior journalists and contribute to editorial strategy discussions
- Represent the bureau at industry events and maintain professional networks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 7 years of professional investigative journalism experience
- Proven track record of published investigative work in major media outlets
- Expertise in FOIA requests, database journalism, and public records research
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling abilities across multiple formats
- Proficiency with digital publishing tools, CMS platforms, and social media analytics
- Strong understanding of media law, ethics, and libel standards
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
