Responsibilities
- Lead complex, long-term investigative projects from conception to publication.
- Conduct deep-dive research, data analysis, and document retrieval using FOIA requests.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse network of high-level sources and whistleblowers.
- Collaborate with multimedia editors to produce compelling visual and audio components for digital platforms.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to the highest ethical and editorial standards.
- Mentor junior reporters and contribute to editorial strategy meetings.
- Prepare detailed drafts and fact-check all investigative findings with the legal department.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in investigative journalism or long-form reporting.
- Proven track record of publishing high-impact features with national or global reach.
- Expertise in data-driven reporting and proficiency with tools like Excel, SQL, or R.
- Strong understanding of media law, libel risks, and ethical sourcing practices.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with a focus on human-centric storytelling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-stakes deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Political Science, or a related field.
