Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception through to publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a deep network of reliable, high-level sources.
- Analyze large datasets and public records to uncover trends and hidden patterns.
- Write compelling, high-impact long-form articles that adhere to the highest editorial standards.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure all reporting is ethically sound and legally compliant.
- Mentor junior reporters on field research techniques and narrative structure.
- Represent the publication in public forums, podcasts, and media appearances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in high-stakes investigative or beat reporting.
- Expert-level proficiency in FOIA requests, document retrieval, and investigative research tools.
- Strong editorial judgment and impeccable fact-checking skills.
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines under intense editorial pressure.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Datawrapper) is a significant advantage.
