Responsibilities
- Lead and execute in-depth investigative projects from ideation to final publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse network of reliable sources and whistleblowers.
- Collaborate with data analysts and graphic designers to visualize complex information.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking, legal reviews, and ethical vetting of all investigative reports.
- Monitor current events and trends to identify potential investigative leads.
- Contribute regular updates, live reporting, and analysis across digital and broadcast platforms.
- Mentor junior editorial staff on best practices for research and narrative structure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in investigative or hard news reporting.
- Demonstrated history of publishing long-form, accountability-driven content.
- Advanced proficiency in FOIA requests, public record searches, and data-driven reporting tools.
- Expertise in media law, libel standards, and journalistic ethics.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required by assignments.
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to work under tight, high-pressure deadlines.
