Responsibilities
- Lead high-impact, multi-month investigative projects from conception to publication.
- Conduct deep-dive research, including FOIA requests, document analysis, and data mining.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse network of high-level sources and whistleblowers.
- Collaborate with multimedia editors to produce engaging visual assets and data-driven graphics.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to the highest standards of journalistic integrity and fact-checking.
- Pitch original story ideas that challenge the status quo and provide public service value.
- Mentor junior reporters and assist in the development of investigative reporting techniques.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in investigative journalism for a reputable news organization.
- Proven ability to break news and execute complex investigative series.
- Proficiency in digital research tools, data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SQL, or R), and public records navigation.
- Deep understanding of media law, libel, and ethical guidelines.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with a focus on long-form storytelling.
- Ability to thrive in high-pressure deadline environments.
