Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, research, and execute high-stakes investigative pieces from inception to publication.
- Develop and maintain a robust network of high-level sources across government, corporate, and public sectors.
- Collaborate with multimedia editors and data scientists to create interactive, data-backed visual journalism.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, fact-checking, and editorial rigor.
- Represent the organization in public forums, industry panels, and broadcast media appearances.
- Mentor junior reporters and provide editorial guidance on complex narrative arcs.
- Manage tight deadlines while navigating sensitive legal and compliance frameworks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in investigative reporting at a major media outlet.
- Demonstrated ability to produce award-winning long-form investigative content.
- Strong proficiency in public records requests (FOIA), database analysis, and digital research tools.
- Proven ability to manage sensitive sources and handle complex, high-pressure editorial projects.
- Exceptional narrative writing skills with a keen eye for clarity, pace, and human interest.
- Experience working in a multimedia-first newsroom environment.
