Responsibilities
- Lead high-stakes investigative projects from conception to publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of confidential sources within government and private sectors.
- Utilize advanced data journalism tools to analyze large datasets for potential story leads.
- Collaborate with multimedia producers to create compelling visual elements for digital features.
- Ensure all reporting adheres to the highest standards of journalistic integrity, ethics, and legal vetting.
- Mentor junior reporters and provide editorial guidance on complex research narratives.
- Represent the organization in public forums, industry panels, and broadcast appearances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in investigative or in-depth beat reporting.
- Demonstrable history of breaking major stories that resulted in policy change or public impact.
- Expertise in FOIA/open records requests and document analysis.
- Strong proficiency in digital research, fact-checking, and cross-platform storytelling.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as project needs dictate.
- Exceptional writing skills with an emphasis on clarity, pacing, and narrative structure.
