Responsibilities
- Spearhead long-term investigative projects from initial pitch to final publication.
- Cultivate and maintain a diverse network of high-level sources and whistleblowers.
- Conduct exhaustive document research, including FOIA requests and financial data analysis.
- Collaborate with the data visualization team to create interactive elements for digital storytelling.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and editorial integrity.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and interview subjects under tight deadlines.
- Mentor junior reporters and assist in refining editorial standards across the newsroom.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of professional experience in investigative reporting at a major publication.
- Proven track record of publishing high-impact, award-winning investigative features.
- Exceptional proficiency in fact-checking, narrative structure, and investigative research methods.
- Strong understanding of media law, libel, and ethical reporting standards.
- Experience in digital-first newsrooms with a focus on audience engagement and SEO.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple concurrent investigations.
