Responsibilities
- Lead and execute long-term investigative projects from conception to publication.
- Develop and maintain a diverse network of high-level sources within government, corporate, and private sectors.
- Analyze complex data sets and public records requests to uncover hidden patterns and malfeasance.
- Collaborate with multimedia teams to incorporate interactive visuals, data journalism, and video components.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and rigorous fact-checking.
- Mentor junior reporters on investigative techniques, source protection, and narrative structure.
- Represent the publication in public forums, industry panels, and broadcast media appearances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in investigative reporting at a major media outlet.
- Proven track record of breaking exclusive stories and winning major industry awards.
- Expertise in FOIA/FOIL requests and deep-web research techniques.
- Strong command of narrative storytelling, including long-form feature writing.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with data journalists and visual artists.
- Resilience and the ability to handle high-pressure deadlines and sensitive subject matter.
