Responsibilities
- Lead complex, long-term investigative projects from initial tip to final publication.
- Conduct deep-dive research, including FOIA requests, data analysis, and document procurement.
- Develop and maintain a diverse network of reliable sources across private and public sectors.
- Collaborate with multimedia producers to translate investigative findings into compelling visual content.
- Adhere to the highest standards of journalistic ethics, accuracy, and rigorous fact-checking protocols.
- Represent the newsroom in public forums, industry panels, and media appearances.
- Mentor junior reporters on investigative techniques and legal considerations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in investigative reporting or high-level beats.
- Proven track record of producing award-winning, high-impact investigative content.
- Advanced proficiency in public records laws and database journalism tools (SQL, Excel, etc.).
- Demonstrable skill in narrative non-fiction writing and long-form structure.
- Sharp attention to detail and rigorous commitment to editorial integrity.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interview a wide variety of subjects.
