Responsibilities
- Lead complex investigative projects from conception to publication, ensuring factual accuracy and ethical standards
- Develop and maintain deep source networks across diverse communities and industries
- Analyze large datasets and public records to uncover patterns and anomalies
- Produce multimedia content including long-form articles, documentaries, and interactive data visualizations
- Mentor junior journalists through editorial guidance and skills development
- Collaborate with editors to shape content strategy and editorial direction
- Represent the organization at industry events and public forums
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of professional journalism experience with proven investigative portfolio
- Demonstrated expertise in data journalism, FOIA requests, and advanced research techniques
- Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities across multiple platforms
- Strong understanding of media ethics, libel law, and journalistic standards
- Experience managing complex projects with tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Proficiency in digital tools including CMS platforms, data visualization software, and social media analytics
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
