Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial insurance applications using actuarial data, market trends, and risk assessment methodologies
- Develop and negotiate customized insurance policies aligning with client needs and regulatory requirements
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and industry stakeholders
- Lead underwriting strategy sessions and mentor junior underwriting professionals
- Analyze loss ratios and claims data to refine pricing models and risk selection criteria
- Stay current with emerging risks (cyber, climate, ESG) and regulatory developments
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience with P/C specialization
- CPCU, ARM, or CERA designation preferred
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek, etc.)
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial statements
- Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities
- Proven track record of profitable portfolio management
