Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial insurance applications to determine risk exposure and coverage eligibility
- Develop and implement tailored risk mitigation strategies for high-value accounts
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to design comprehensive insurance solutions
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to update underwriting guidelines
- Maintain accurate risk assessment documentation and policy files
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to team training initiatives
- Identify new business opportunities within existing client portfolios
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty expertise
- Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or AU) strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Exceptional analytical and risk assessment capabilities
- Demonstrated success in developing profitable insurance solutions
- Strong negotiation skills and client relationship management experience
- Knowledge of NY insurance regulations and compliance requirements
