Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth risk evaluations for commercial and personal insurance portfolios
- Develop innovative underwriting strategies aligned with emerging market trends
- Lead negotiations with brokers and clients to structure optimal coverage solutions
- Maintain compliance with NY state insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Mentor junior underwriters to enhance team expertise and performance
- Analyze loss data and claims history to refine risk assessment methodologies
- Collaborate with actuaries and data scientists to enhance predictive modeling capabilities
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive underwriting experience with P&C specialization
- Valid NY State Insurance License (required)
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial documents
- Proven track record in developing profitable insurance products
- Expert knowledge of ISO rating rules and industry regulations
- CEBS, AU, or CPCU designation preferred
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to present complex concepts clearly
