Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance applications and risk assessments to determine coverage eligibility and premium structures
- Develop and maintain profitable underwriting strategies for property/casualty and specialty lines
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to structure optimal insurance solutions
- Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitive positioning
- Maintain accurate risk portfolios and documentation in underwriting systems
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty expertise
- Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or similar) strongly preferred
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills for stakeholder interactions
- Deep understanding of insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Proven track record of balancing risk management with profitable portfolio growth
