Responsibilities
- Assess complex commercial risks and underwrite policies up to $10M in liability
- Develop and implement risk evaluation frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements
- Lead negotiations with brokers and clients to structure optimal coverage terms
- Mentor junior underwriters and conduct portfolio performance reviews
- Analyze loss data and market trends to inform underwriting strategy
- Collaborate with claims and actuarial teams to ensure portfolio profitability
- Ensure compliance with NY State insurance regulations and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with P&C focus
- CPCU, ARM, or AU designation preferred
- Expert knowledge of insurance regulations (NYDFS) and rating methodologies
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret financial statements
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
- Proven track record in profitable portfolio management
