Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial and personal insurance applications to assess risk factors accurately
- Develop and price insurance policies aligned with company guidelines and regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to resolve underwriting inquiries and negotiate terms
- Monitor claims trends and adjust underwriting strategies to minimize portfolio risk
- Maintain compliance with state and federal insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of underwriting experience with commercial or personal lines insurance
- Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or AU) preferred
- Expert knowledge of insurance regulations and risk assessment methodologies
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
