Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex commercial property/casualty risks with precision and strategic risk assessment
- Develop and implement innovative underwriting strategies for emerging markets and high-value portfolios
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with actuaries, brokers, and claims specialists
- Maintain compliance with NY State insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Mentor junior underwriters and drive continuous improvement in underwriting workflows
- Analyze market trends and competitor positioning to identify growth opportunities
- Present risk recommendations to executive leadership with data-driven insights
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience with P&C specialization
- Proven expertise in complex risk assessment and pricing models
- Strong knowledge of NY insurance regulations and NAIC guidelines
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- CPCU or ARM designation required
- Exceptional communication skills for stakeholder management and negotiations
- Demonstrated success in leading high-value portfolios ($10M+ premium)
