Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial property risks and evaluate insurance applications for large-scale portfolios
- Develop pricing strategies and policy terms that balance risk exposure with profitability targets
- Leverage predictive analytics and AI-driven tools to enhance underwriting accuracy
- Mentor junior underwriters through case reviews and skill development workshops
- Collaborate with claims department to identify emerging risk patterns and adjust underwriting guidelines
- Represent the company at industry conferences and maintain knowledge of regulatory changes
- Lead cross-functional projects to improve underwriting workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of commercial property underwriting experience with $10M+ portfolios
- Advanced proficiency in insurance rating platforms (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- CPCU or AU designation with ongoing CE credits
- Demonstrated expertise in risk modeling and predictive analytics
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to articulate complex risk concepts
- Experience managing underwriting teams and developing talent
- Deep knowledge of Illinois insurance regulations and NAIC standards
