Responsibilities
- Conduct Comprehensive Risk Assessments: Analyze complex data sets and financial models to evaluate the risk profile of prospective and existing clients.
- Develop Underwriting Guidelines: Create and refine internal guidelines to standardize decision-making processes and ensure consistency across the board.
- Market Analysis: Monitor global and domestic insurance markets to identify opportunities and threats, providing actionable insights to the executive board.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all underwriting practices adhere to FCA regulations and industry best practices.
- Client Advisory: Serve as the technical expert for brokers and clients, presenting complex risk solutions with clarity and confidence.
- Loss Control: Partner with claims and operations teams to investigate claims trends and implement preventative measures.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (CII/FIA) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting, risk management, or actuarial analysis.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis, along with expert-level Excel skills.
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional ability to interpret complex data and translate it into strategic business recommendations.
- Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of UK and international insurance regulatory frameworks.
