The Role
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for the integrity of our financial data, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and regulatory standards. You will mentor junior staff and work closely with the CFO to provide actionable financial insights.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS/GAAP standards.
- Compliance: Ensure all statutory accounts, tax filings, and regulatory reporting are completed correctly and on schedule.
- Month-End Close: Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are completed.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency.
- Management Reporting: Develop and present management packs and variance analysis to senior stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accountants, providing training and support on accounting standards and software.
Qualifications
- Education: Fully qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or CIPFA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience: Minimum of 4-6 years of post-qualification experience in a senior accounting role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, and VAT regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
