Responsibilities
- Analyze, evaluate, and price complex commercial property and casualty risks to ensure profitable growth and alignment with corporate risk appetite.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key independent brokers and agency partners across the Northeast region.
- Collaborate with risk control specialists and claims teams to assess loss trends and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and analytical excellence.
- Utilize advanced predictive modeling software and data analytics tools to optimize portfolio performance and pricing accuracy.
- Negotiate coverage terms, pricing, and policy exclusions with brokers to secure high-value commercial accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting.
- Active Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation, or progress toward completion, is highly preferred.
- Proven track record of managing a commercial book of business exceeding $10M in annual written premium.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills with a market-facing professional demeanor.
- Strong proficiency with underwriting technology platforms, predictive modeling tools, and advanced Excel functions.
