Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial insurance risks to determine insurability and pricing accuracy.
- Manage a diverse book of business while meeting profitability and growth targets.
- Cultivate and maintain high-level relationships with key brokers and agency partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments, including claims and loss control, to ensure underwriting excellence.
- Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risk factors in the insurance industry.
- Review policy documentation for accuracy and ensure compliance with internal underwriting guidelines and state regulations.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff to foster a culture of continuous development and technical proficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
- Strong understanding of property, casualty, and umbrella insurance products.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are highly preferred.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in insurance underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple competing priorities.
