Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial accounts, ensuring adherence to corporate underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with brokers and agents to drive profitable business volume.
- Utilize advanced data analytics and predictive modeling tools to assess risk exposure accurately.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial and Claims departments to refine product offerings and improve loss ratios.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters and support staff.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust strategy for portfolio optimization.
- Participate in high-level client meetings to present bespoke coverage solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in commercial lines underwriting, specifically in Middle Market or Specialty risks.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of commercial property and casualty coverage forms.
- Proven ability to manage a profitable book of business with a focus on loss control.
- Strong proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical decision-making skills.
