Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and pricing accuracy.
- Manage a high-value portfolio of commercial accounts, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and loss ratios.
- Develop and nurture strong professional relationships with key brokers and agency partners to drive new business.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and participate in peer-review processes to ensure technical excellence.
- Collaborate with Actuarial and Claims departments to refine risk appetite and improve portfolio performance.
- Conduct regular market analysis to identify emerging trends and competitive opportunities.
- Negotiate terms and conditions for large, multi-line commercial accounts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience with proven proficiency in multi-line accounts.
- Active CPCU, ARM, or equivalent professional insurance designations highly preferred.
- Deep understanding of commercial property, general liability, and umbrella coverage forms.
- Expertise in financial statement analysis and hazard identification.
- Strong technical aptitude with proficiency in industry-standard underwriting software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for high-stakes negotiations.
