Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial insurance risks, ensuring alignment with corporate underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a high-value portfolio, monitoring profitability, loss ratios, and premium volume targets.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key brokers and agency partners to drive business development.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and site inspections as required to evaluate coverage suitability.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex policy endorsements and renewals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Claims and Actuarial departments, to refine pricing strategies.
- Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive market developments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting (Property & Casualty preferred).
- Strong knowledge of ISO forms, rating plans, and state-specific regulatory requirements.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable book of business and meeting growth KPIs.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a customer-centric approach.
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation or progress towards completion is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in industry-leading underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
