Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate complex commercial insurance applications to determine risk acceptability and pricing.
- Manage an assigned book of business, focusing on profitability, retention, and growth objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage partners to source high-quality prospects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Actuarial and Claims, to refine underwriting guidelines.
- Conduct thorough audits of policy terms and conditions to ensure compliance with state and corporate standards.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex account structures.
- Represent the company at industry conferences and client meetings to bolster market presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience, specifically within property and casualty.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable book of business with a focus on mid-market accounts.
- Deep knowledge of ISO forms, state regulations, and commercial rating software.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AU are highly preferred.
- Exceptional negotiation, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-standard CRM systems.
