Responsibilities
- Analyze and underwrite complex commercial risks, ensuring adherence to corporate underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokerage partners to grow our regional commercial footprint.
- Perform comprehensive risk assessments using data-driven insights and loss control reports.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial and Claims teams to refine pricing strategies for niche segments.
- Mentor junior underwriters and assist in the development of best-in-class underwriting workflows.
- Monitor portfolio performance metrics and implement corrective actions to ensure profitability.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive market developments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting (General Liability, Property, or Umbrella).
- Active CPCU, ARM, or AU designation is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in insurance software and predictive modeling tools.
- Proven ability to negotiate terms and conditions with high-level brokers and clients.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex risk information clearly.
