Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial property and casualty risks to determine insurability and appropriate pricing.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and agency partners to facilitate profitable deal flow.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex account structures.
- Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends to optimize underwriting guidelines.
- Collaborate with the claims and actuarial teams to refine risk appetite and coverage solutions.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal corporate governance standards.
- Lead periodic risk reviews and audits to maintain high quality-assurance benchmarks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
- 7+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience with a focus on middle-market accounts.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial coverage forms, rating plans, and policy language.
- Professional insurance designations (CPCU, ARM, or AU) are highly preferred.
- Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in predictive modeling tools and underwriting software.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable book of business and meeting growth targets.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for high-stakes broker interactions.
