Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance risks, including GL, Property, and Umbrella, to determine eligibility and pricing.
- Manage a high-volume portfolio while maintaining strict underwriting guidelines and compliance standards.
- Cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with key regional brokers and agency partners.
- Collaborate with the Actuarial and Claims teams to refine pricing models and improve loss ratios.
- Mentor junior underwriters and provide technical guidance on complex coverage disputes.
- Monitor market trends and industry shifts to adjust appetite and strategy proactively.
- Attend industry conferences and networking events to build the Summit Shield brand presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Active CPCU, ARM, or AU designation is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and industry-standard policy management systems (e.g., Guidewire).
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of managing profitable books of business.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex risks to internal stakeholders.
- Deep knowledge of ISO forms and state-specific regulatory requirements.
