Responsibilities
- Evaluate and price complex commercial property and casualty risks within established underwriting guidelines.
- Manage a high-value renewal portfolio while actively soliciting new business opportunities from appointed brokers.
- Collaborate with risk control and claims departments to ensure holistic risk management strategies.
- Maintain superior service levels by providing timely, accurate, and professional communication to stakeholders.
- Mentor junior underwriting staff and contribute to the development of regional underwriting strategies.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to adjust appetite and strategy as needed.
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements and internal audit standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience, preferably in middle-market property and casualty.
- Proven track record of managing a profitable book of business and meeting growth targets.
- Professional designation such as CPCU, ARM, or AU is highly preferred.
- Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial statements and risk modeling data.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and a strong network of brokerage contacts in the Northeast region.
- Proficiency in modern underwriting platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
