The Washington State Department of Technology & Innovation is seeking a Senior Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead our mission-critical migration efforts. Responsibilities
- Architect and implement secure, scalable cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS/Azure GovCloud environments.
- Lead the modernization of legacy on-premises applications to serverless and containerized architectures.
- Define and enforce enterprise-wide cloud governance, security compliance (FedRAMP, NIST), and cost-optimization strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional agency leaders to align infrastructure roadmaps with legislative and departmental goals.
- Mentor junior engineering staff and foster a culture of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) excellence.
- Oversee vendor relationships and technical procurement processes for cloud service providers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in enterprise systems architecture and cloud infrastructure management.
- Proven expertise in AWS or Azure architectures, with active professional-level certifications.
- Extensive knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.
- Deep understanding of Zero Trust security models and public sector compliance requirements.
- Experience managing high-availability environments with a focus on disaster recovery and business continuity.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
