Responsibilities
- Assess Patient Conditions: Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs to formulate individualized care plans.
- Medication Administration: Safely administer prescribed medications and treatments, adhering to strict hospital protocols and safety guidelines.
- Monitor Vital Signs: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and alert physicians immediately to any significant changes or deterioration in condition.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with physicians, nurses, therapists, and social workers to ensure a holistic approach to patient recovery.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, disease management, and post-discharge care instructions.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed electronic health records (EHR) for all patient interactions and interventions.
- Emergency Response: Remain prepared to respond swiftly and effectively to medical emergencies within the critical care environment.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State Board of Nursing in New York.
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required; PALS preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Critical Care or Telemetry setting is highly preferred.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex medical information clearly.
- Critical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to navigate electronic medical records (EHR) systems efficiently.
