NexGen Materials Laboratory is seeking a visionary Principal Scientist to join our Research & Development division in the heart of Cambridge's innovation district. Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end R&D projects from initial hypothesis through to pilot-scale production.
- Architect and execute complex experimental designs to optimize material properties and performance.
- Drive the development of proprietary technologies and maintain a robust pipeline for intellectual property (IP) filings.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering and Product teams to ensure R&D outputs meet commercial specifications.
- Mentor junior researchers and scientists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Publish findings in high-impact journals and represent the company at international scientific conferences.
- Analyze competitive landscapes and emerging technological trends to guide long-term R&D strategy.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in a dedicated R&D capacity.
- Proven track record of successful product commercialization or breakthrough discoveries.
- Expert-level proficiency with analytical characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, XRD, NMR).
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing multidisciplinary research teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
- Deep understanding of patent landscapes and the strategic management of intellectual property.
- Experience with computational modeling or AI-driven material discovery is highly desirable.
