Responsibilities
- Develop & Implement EHS Policies: Create, update, and enforce comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures aligned with OSHA, EPA, and TCEQ regulations.
- Conduct Audits & Inspections: Perform regular facility audits, job hazard analyses, and safety inspections to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions.
- Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of workplace accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Training & Development: Design and deliver engaging safety training programs for all levels of staff, ensuring high retention of critical safety information.
- Regulatory Compliance: Monitor changes in environmental legislation and ensure all reporting (e.g., Tier II, emissions inventories) is submitted accurately and on time.
- Emergency Preparedness: Oversee the development and testing of emergency response plans, including fire drills and chemical spill protocols.
- Continuous Improvement: Analyze safety metrics and incident data to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Certifications: Professional Safety Certification (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Environmental Health & Safety Professional (CSEH) is highly desired.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in EHS management within the industrial or energy sector.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards (29 CFR 1910), EPA regulations, and state-specific environmental laws.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex safety data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster a positive safety culture.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHS software systems (e.g., SAP EHS, Intelex) and MS Office Suite.
