Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Design, implement, and maintain the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system in alignment with ISO 14001 and OSHA standards.
- Compliance Auditing: Conduct regular site audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure strict adherence to local, provincial, and federal regulations.
- Incident Management: Lead thorough investigations into accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Training & Education: Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees at all levels to enhance safety awareness and competency.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate emergency response plans and drills to ensure readiness for environmental incidents or workplace emergencies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, insurance providers, and internal management regarding EHS performance.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in EHS management, preferably within the industrial or construction sector.
- Certifications: Professional certification (e.g., CESP, CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH) is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHS software and data analysis tools. Strong knowledge of Canadian environmental regulations (CCME, EPA) and OSHA standards.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex safety data to diverse audiences.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading safety initiatives and mentoring junior safety staff.
